In the same vein, a Gibson 335 has a 3.35' sidewall and by the same logic, a 339. The '650' refers to the depth/height of the sidewall, which in this case is 6.5'. Nearly all Korean-made models became part of the Artist Series in 1995. The '650' designation seems to apply to several guitars-with differing prefixes-some true hollow body, some semi-hollow, and some solid. Officially introduced in 1995 (with some early models made in 1994), the Artist Series was the culmination of 30 years of building guitars, and everything learned from working with engineers at Gibson, Tokai and Matsumoku. If you have limited money and need a great guitar, play an old Samick Artist Series and you will probably end up with a few of them. The Artist Series has easily become Samick's most well-known and acclaimed line. They are ALL great players, they ALL compare to Gibsons, and they are ALL about 1/10the the price of Gibson originals. I have 3-the LP type as in this clip, a 60's SG/Les Paul copy, and a jazz box modeled after a high end Gibson seliing in the $10 thousand and up range. The Artist Series used extremely high quality wood, hardware and electronics, and craftsmanship was excellent. MIK, when Samick was making Epiphones and other Gibson style guitars of various brands, and decided to make some under their own name. resurrecting this thread - i saw a samick 5er at a store today. It is made like an old LP Model, and screams like the one in the clip, with factory pups and electronics. The back window was smashed at thats where I had my 70s Traynor YBA bass amp. A Samick KR artist series Had a couple more samicks as well. I have one of their 1990's LP types, similar to the one in this short clip. I have close to thirty electric guitars and three acoustics.
